Aloha all!
Hello everyone. It has been quite an adventure since I last wrote. And yes, a lot has happened. Thanksgiving was a looooooong while away and I don't have a good enough reason for not writing. Oh yeah...nah I just thought of a great excuse, "I'm pregnant". So yeah that means that I didn't have time to sit down and update you all (yeah, lame, I know; but everyone has been telling me that pregnancy is a valid excuse). Maybe in reality I just don't know how to be pregnant. OK nuff with the P-word.
So since November, Michael and I went to Georgia (Christmas and New Years). Then we got into Utah and met with Aunter Anela, who just got off her mission from California. Then we got back into Rexburg and rested back into our mundane work schedule. In early February we found out that we are having a BOY. We were both freaked out and excited and scared (in that order). It was a great beginning to the month. We have thought of many names, but have confirmed "Hanuafo'ou". I asked Fo'ou and he was super excited. I am too, I feel that it is time to pass on Fo'ou's legacy...lol. February came and left; bringing us warmer weather and lots of nice sunshine. We then went to Aunter Leah's wedding; which was beautiful. It was so cool to see her and Perry in the temple. It reminded me of my sealing; oh I love being married to Michael.
So now...fast-forward to March and here we are, 6 months pregnant, working like a dog (jk), living the Rexburg life and reviving my blog. Recently I have been into youtube videos and I have been wondering if I should start my own channel. I mostly watch makeup videos and fashion videos. But I really want to get into it. I dunno why, I just think it would be awesome to do. Well I still thinking about it so no stress.
Anyway world, everybody take care and until next time, Aloha nui loa!

Early Winter Woes
Aloha and Bula!
As you can probably see from the greeting, I am missing not only my temporary Hawaiian home but also my native and first Fijian home. Gosh all I can think about these past several weeks is how much I miss the beach and being able to walk everywhere in slippers and shorts. I miss the sticky feeling you get from the humidity just 10 minutes after you shower. I miss the freak-rainfalls and the rain-baths. I miss the Food. I miss mangoes, watermelon, bananas, pineapples and definitely the long loaf. Cream buns and cheese buns are close behind on that list.
But to be really honest, I miss my family, my sisters, my brothers and my parents. I never realized how living in the middle of nowhere, no ocean, no beach and no family could bring on this homesick feeling. I guess the excitement has worn off and reality has set in and we now have a mundane schedule...so naturally the thoughts of my family would fill the gaps of my day. Of course there is another piece of bigs news that Michael and I have that fill up my thoughts as well, but when Michael is busy with other things or at work and I am alone flipping through channels or trying to rest, my thoughts turn to the islands; back to my roots. I have been sneaky in trying to find ways to get back home...none of them have been successful but soon!!! "One day Mafatu"
In all this homesickness the weather has been filled with cold winds, cloudy skies, and rain/snow. Thus my title "early winter woes". Ha ha I blame pregnancy hormones for the food cravings and the over emotional reaction to the winter. Oh yeah that's our big news!!! Ha ha we are expecting a baby to be joining us live and direct next June :) A little baby boy or girl will add to the Peak Ohana, it is exciting and scary all at the same time.
Another thing bringing on some tears are the small posts I see on my news feed for my sisters. All the farewells saying good bye to my family as they gracefully exit the islands of Fiji. It's just sad news and sad news makes me sad. Anyway, so I'll just say Winter is not off to a good start but, now that I am done complaining, tomorrow is Stake Conference so maybe some enlightenment will bring a brighter week.
Peace out,
Mabs

It's Fall time
Aloha all!
Yes it is Fall here in sweet ole Rexburg Idaho. The leaves are changin every imaginable color and the air is crispier and clearer. It is a wonderful time! Well updates updates!!! Nothing new really, I mean I got a new job, Michael is still working hard at his and we are happy. What else is there to know really? We have had a heck of a time here in Rexburg thus far. Toady will put it close to 6 months. Gosh how time has passed. I didn't expect that this place would grow on me as quickly as it did, but I was wrong (like always). My latest adventure included me walking home from work yesterday (about 2miles). It was cold at first but then I started to notice how beautiful the trees were and all the leaves crunching below my feet; it also helped that I have awesome taste in music and I had that awesome-tasting music accompanying me home, all the way. It was only after I got home and changed and had a bite to eat that I felt the pain in my shins. So I plopped on the floor to stretch while watching Criminal Minds. A good workout nonetheless.
A less recent adventure was being able to attend the LDS General Conference in Salt Lake City. It was so cool! We got to see soooooooo many saints gathered together and I even saw some familiar faces in the crowd. Spending time with my cousins was a bonus and I loved it. We also go to ride the tram from Sandy into SLC and it was nice not having to hunt for parking. The best part was, of course, the actual conference and being able to listen to the general authorities LIVE and in-person. Michael really loves being at Papa and Grandma's home. He is always trying to come up with ways to go and be there. Too funny that guy.
Well, life is treating us well and so is the weather...for now.
Love to everyone!

Another Revival
Oh dear, if I continue this way blogspot may kick me off their site for good. Anyway...
ALOHA!!!!!!!!! Sprinklorinas! Ha ha ha (Don't worry this will be explained in this post)
OK, to my peeps that follow my blog, I am back and ready to attack this post! Like the heck!!!
I know, I know...I have been gone for 3 long months. 3 long months of work, work and work. It is indeed official, I have a job and yes I probably stopped posting the moment I got the job. I'll tell you it has not been an easy 3 months, but it has been full of surprises, adventure and love.
So, what's new?
I got a job. I am a Housekeeper at the Quality Inn. It's not the glamorous jobs I am used to (Watevs) but it is a good job, with good people and lots of opportunities to gain muscle and lose fat. hee hee. It is probably the hardest job I have ever done in my life. Making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, can you say maid-for-life? I will stop my complaining there, because if there is anything that I have learned, it is that hard work feels good on payday and tipping is never a bad idea, NEVER!
Michael has found his passion (YAY). He wants to learn more about wildlife ecology. This ranges from the trees, shrubs and plant life to the animals, antelope, deer, etc. (Shame on you for singing "Home on the Range") Anyway, it makes me extremely happy to see him so interested in this. I love seeing him research the latest on IDAHO wildlife and gaming rules, it's really attractive. Also, he loves finding ways to use his HAM in real life. In my opinion it's a boy's toy; like XBOX but more useful and less brain-cell-killing. This update has brought about the questions on where will we live and what are the opportunities in Georgia; are we living in a forest; YAY, we're going to be rich, Boo not really.... Let's just say it's brought up tons of stuff, questions, answers, but mostly relief. Yay for my baby finding his contribution to the world!
I have recently subscribed to some channels on YOUTUBE. I know, what a commitment. One I have liked a lot recently is Sprinkle Of Glitter. Louis is her name and she is so fun! She is a mom and a NORMAL girl who shares tips and tid-bits on fashion, makeup, her baby (baby glitter) and just laughs. It really is fun to watch and sometimes educational. I have also subscribed to the MORMON Channel. Where I get updates on their videos. I watch their videos as soon as they come out and I enjoy them every time. I think they help me focus back in on the Savior and my purpose. Usually after I watch a video, I feel at peace and so content and that very same day I will experience something that will test whether I really am "peaceful and content" with life. I think I've caught on a little, now I am careful about the videos I watch because I know it is a preview of the trial I have yet to face.
I lost 10 pounds. YAY me! Honestly I got sick and lost 5 in one day. It was a really bad day. But after that I decided no more. I want to continue to lose so that I feel better about my body and feel healthy again. So I lost 5 more and now I have plateaued. I am working on my muscle content now and trying to smooth my cellulites out. Ha ha what a thing to say at my age.
Also, we have been on an adventuring rampage. Doing everything and anything! I love it, but that story is for a different post. Coming soon though, promise?
Ok people of my BLOG, till the next time I post, tootles.
Love,
Mabel
(oh yeah Sprinklorinas is what Louis says on her YOUTUBE channel)
BTW my pictures decided to make this beautiful slideshow animation of my dearest hubby. I love HIM!

Manual and Automatic
So recently Michael has been teaching me to drive stick, a.k.a a manual car. It has been fun, scary, nerve-wrecking and sometimes rewarding.
Crazy is what it's really been, but Michael has been very patient with me and I appreciate it a lot!
So last week while we adventured into the unknown world of Mabel-driving-a-manual-car I came across an interesting phenomenon.
Interesting Phenomenon
For some reason this stick car and I don't go well together (<= Not the interesting phenomenon). I have a hard time getting the car to move from the get-go. All this balancing-crap and learning to give some here and there and then waiting for the gears to catch and then gassing it more or less and slamming on the brakes but remember the clutch; and on top of that even when you finally get the hang of stick it still takes some time to get used to a different car, aiyah! So Michael tried a different approach, cos I was not getting it, AT ALL. He said "Listen to the gears Mabel, listen to the car. You can tell when it needs more gas or less clutch. You can feel it too." That's when it hit me; like a lightening bolt from heaven, striking an epiphany on my mind and lighting up the way. Women are like manual cars.
We need to be listened to. We need to be given time. We're complicated and definitely not all the same. We will rant and rant and rant and you (husband, brother, father, friend, who-ever-you-are) will just need to patiently listen. Why? because if you don't and you just assume that you know how much to give up and put in then we will "stall" and "die" on you, meaning we shut down and the silent treatment comes into play. You got to put in the time when it comes to women. As corny as that sounds you need to take the time to get to know how sensitive a woman is, especially if you're bound to her forever. And then finally, just as manual cars are similar but not the same, women are similar but not all the same. Doesn't take a scientist to figure that one out; so please don't try the same tactics on every woman because it worked on your mother or sister.
Furthermore, Men are like automatic cars. Simple, straight to the point and pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong though, it still takes time to get used to each automatic car but it's a little bit less-complicated than a manual car.
And since we're on the topic of cars, everybody is entitled to their own preferences: colors, year, less or more maintenance, used-certified/ experienced or brand new/ no road experience, vintage, showy, durable, and the list goes on.
Ha ha hope you enjoyed my metaphor of life. I certainly enjoyed thinking about it and writing about it!
Peace Love and Harmony,
Mabs

Motherhood
To get to the point, Happy Mothers Day Sister Solomone! You are indeed the most influential person in my life. I am so happy to report that all your hard work, late nights, grounding, yelling, chastising, correcting, crying, late night talks, sacrificing, money, time and effort is slowly paying off. You have created a wonderful, grateful and beautiful (is I should be so bold) daughter. I am forever indebted to you. I love you Mom!
This week I have thought of you so many times, wondering how you conjured the patience, love and humility to not only be a wife but a mother. Thank you for not giving up on me or my siblings.
Yes I know this is late but still a toast to Mom is necessary.
Love it!

New Found Life
Good Morning Rexburg!!!! I really should just write"Good Morning Mom" and "PC" seeing as how they are my only readers and fans! Ha ha. Today is a more beautiful day then yesterday. I have found a second wind in my marathon of life. In truth it is probably my 1,000th wind, if you count the times in BYUH when I slacked off and had to be ushered to the light and the times in the Hales when I almost gave up. But to me it is my second wind here, so there. Anyway, I guess the beginning of a new week is giving me the opportunity to start again! Alright!
Before I go any further I need to give an update on my last adventure. So I went to see if I could give plasma at the BioData place and I need to schedule an appointment inorder to do so. I will be going this Friday! After I got an appointment for next Friday, I walked to Walgreens and then home, but....I walked a different way. Ha! How's that for adventurous! Yep, I'm your regular Dora alright, but without a map so that makes me Dora + 1. Anyway, while on my different way home, I saw a craft store. It didn't look too big or crazy so I went in. Oh My DIY! It was ginormous. Well, seeing as how there were hardly any, that I went to, in Hawaii, this one was pretty big for a small town. It had everything I had ever seen on Pinterest. It was like, YAY now I know how to decorate my house, minimally but stylishly none-the-less. It was really exciting. I felt all "Oh, I love Rexburg" Ha ha. Anyway, after my adventure in the craft store, I walked out and headed to Michael.
Another one was when we walked home from the grocery store, trying to beat the delivery guy, we saw a lot of wonderful things! And when we got home finally and our groceries were delivered, we had a beautiful dinner!
An adventure we had the Sunday before was walking on the temple grounds. That place is gorgeous! We had some time to talk about things we needed to re-focus on and how much we missed our family. It was like we were on a date, but better because we knew that it wouldn't end. Love this guy a lot!
Soooo, back to my new beginning week, this week I will be exploring....ME as in Mabel. My adventure will be in discovering where my passion is and what my gifts are. Sound like I'm wasting time and money? Well, that's one person's opinion, I think exploring my strengths and weaknesses will help me know more about myself and put me on the fast track to a beautiful career. That's what I need to do. Wish me luck and if you think you know me pretty well and know strengths and weaknesses, please go ahead and comment or maybe best to message me, eh? Keep it between us. Anyway, to infinity and beyond!
Love and Aloha,
Mabs
