So recently Michael has been teaching me to drive stick, a.k.a a manual car. It has been fun, scary, nerve-wrecking and sometimes rewarding.
Crazy is what it's really been, but Michael has been very patient with me and I appreciate it a lot!
So last week while we adventured into the unknown world of Mabel-driving-a-manual-car I came across an interesting phenomenon.
Interesting Phenomenon
For some reason this stick car and I don't go well together (<= Not the interesting phenomenon). I have a hard time getting the car to move from the get-go. All this balancing-crap and learning to give some here and there and then waiting for the gears to catch and then gassing it more or less and slamming on the brakes but remember the clutch; and on top of that even when you finally get the hang of stick it still takes some time to get used to a different car, aiyah! So Michael tried a different approach, cos I was not getting it, AT ALL. He said "Listen to the gears Mabel, listen to the car. You can tell when it needs more gas or less clutch. You can feel it too." That's when it hit me; like a lightening bolt from heaven, striking an epiphany on my mind and lighting up the way. Women are like manual cars.
We need to be listened to. We need to be given time. We're complicated and definitely not all the same. We will rant and rant and rant and you (husband, brother, father, friend, who-ever-you-are) will just need to patiently listen. Why? because if you don't and you just assume that you know how much to give up and put in then we will "stall" and "die" on you, meaning we shut down and the silent treatment comes into play. You got to put in the time when it comes to women. As corny as that sounds you need to take the time to get to know how sensitive a woman is, especially if you're bound to her forever. And then finally, just as manual cars are similar but not the same, women are similar but not all the same. Doesn't take a scientist to figure that one out; so please don't try the same tactics on every woman because it worked on your mother or sister.
Furthermore, Men are like automatic cars. Simple, straight to the point and pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong though, it still takes time to get used to each automatic car but it's a little bit less-complicated than a manual car.
And since we're on the topic of cars, everybody is entitled to their own preferences: colors, year, less or more maintenance, used-certified/ experienced or brand new/ no road experience, vintage, showy, durable, and the list goes on.
Ha ha hope you enjoyed my metaphor of life. I certainly enjoyed thinking about it and writing about it!
Peace Love and Harmony,
Mabs

Motherhood
To get to the point, Happy Mothers Day Sister Solomone! You are indeed the most influential person in my life. I am so happy to report that all your hard work, late nights, grounding, yelling, chastising, correcting, crying, late night talks, sacrificing, money, time and effort is slowly paying off. You have created a wonderful, grateful and beautiful (is I should be so bold) daughter. I am forever indebted to you. I love you Mom!
This week I have thought of you so many times, wondering how you conjured the patience, love and humility to not only be a wife but a mother. Thank you for not giving up on me or my siblings.
Yes I know this is late but still a toast to Mom is necessary.
Love it!

New Found Life
Good Morning Rexburg!!!! I really should just write"Good Morning Mom" and "PC" seeing as how they are my only readers and fans! Ha ha. Today is a more beautiful day then yesterday. I have found a second wind in my marathon of life. In truth it is probably my 1,000th wind, if you count the times in BYUH when I slacked off and had to be ushered to the light and the times in the Hales when I almost gave up. But to me it is my second wind here, so there. Anyway, I guess the beginning of a new week is giving me the opportunity to start again! Alright!
Before I go any further I need to give an update on my last adventure. So I went to see if I could give plasma at the BioData place and I need to schedule an appointment inorder to do so. I will be going this Friday! After I got an appointment for next Friday, I walked to Walgreens and then home, but....I walked a different way. Ha! How's that for adventurous! Yep, I'm your regular Dora alright, but without a map so that makes me Dora + 1. Anyway, while on my different way home, I saw a craft store. It didn't look too big or crazy so I went in. Oh My DIY! It was ginormous. Well, seeing as how there were hardly any, that I went to, in Hawaii, this one was pretty big for a small town. It had everything I had ever seen on Pinterest. It was like, YAY now I know how to decorate my house, minimally but stylishly none-the-less. It was really exciting. I felt all "Oh, I love Rexburg" Ha ha. Anyway, after my adventure in the craft store, I walked out and headed to Michael.
Another one was when we walked home from the grocery store, trying to beat the delivery guy, we saw a lot of wonderful things! And when we got home finally and our groceries were delivered, we had a beautiful dinner!
An adventure we had the Sunday before was walking on the temple grounds. That place is gorgeous! We had some time to talk about things we needed to re-focus on and how much we missed our family. It was like we were on a date, but better because we knew that it wouldn't end. Love this guy a lot!
Soooo, back to my new beginning week, this week I will be exploring....ME as in Mabel. My adventure will be in discovering where my passion is and what my gifts are. Sound like I'm wasting time and money? Well, that's one person's opinion, I think exploring my strengths and weaknesses will help me know more about myself and put me on the fast track to a beautiful career. That's what I need to do. Wish me luck and if you think you know me pretty well and know strengths and weaknesses, please go ahead and comment or maybe best to message me, eh? Keep it between us. Anyway, to infinity and beyond!
Love and Aloha,
Mabs
